Osprey Packs are a prime manufacturer of outdoor backpacks and other gear suited to an active lifestyle. The Osprey Packs Daylite Daypack is fully compatible with larger packs in their range, while delivering an astonishing amount of space in a very lightweight, portable package. It is a great daypack for both outdoor, and everyday urban escapades.
From conveniently placed mesh panels, to an inner large enough for a tablet or notebook, this is truly one of the best daypacks available. Not only does it look great, but it is highly functional as well. Here we’ll be taking a closer look.
- Large main loading compartment
- Dual stretch mesh side pocket
- Zippered front pocket with mesh organizer
- Key clip organization for small items
- Interior sleeve for either Osprey hydration reservoir or a tablet
- Mesh-covered die-cut foam back panel
- Good weather resistance
- Removable hip and chest straps
- 10 colors to choose from
- No reflective strips for visibility
- Not completely waterproof (but what pack is?)
- A little bit top heavy
It is hard to fault this outstanding option from Osprey Packs. The 10 colors guarantee style suited to anyone, while the plethora of compartments are a welcome surprise to all owners. It will stand up well to the elements, being well-known for giving long-lasting service without having its appearance rapidly degrade. This is a pack which will both look and feel great after many months of use.
The only notable con worth mentioning is the fairly mediocre mesh side-panels. While effective enough to secure your phone or wallet, water bottles do not fit securely and are known to slip out unless your pack is packed to full capacity. Yet when your daypack is filled nice and full, you will have no problems with anything slipping out of place, not even a side-mounted water bottle.
Unbeatable functionality for any trip to anywhere
If you are looking for a portable pack to suit any occasion, then look no further than this ultra-portable lightweight offering from Osprey. The Osprey Packs Daylite Daypack delivers a massive amount of space for a small pack, with ample room being given in the main compartment thanks to the only structural padding present being found on the back and straps.
Attachable to other packs from Osprey’s range
Osprey’s entire range is designed to specifically cross compatible with their other, larger products. This daypack is designed to attach to Osprey’s larger packs and travel bags, or it can be used stand-alone. The Osprey Packs Daylite Daypack snaps onto the following packs:
- Aether/Ariel Series
- Volt/Viva Series
- Ace 75 Series
- Shuttle Series
- Sojourn Series
- Farpoint 80 Series
- Porter Series.
Ample space for any adventure
The main compartment allows you zippered access with enough space for either a 15″ laptop, or a hydration pack specifically designed by Osprey. The capacity of the internal pouch is rated at thirteen liters, which can either house a laptop/tablet, the before-mentioned hydration pack, or four tightly packed squeeze bottles.
If you are an avid hiker who often day trips, then you will be happy to know that you can fit a maximum of seven liters of water in this wonderful pack. A two and three-liter bladder fits in the hydration sleeve, another bladder fits in the main pouch, with the side pockets each holding one-liter bottle of water as well.
You will notice that the side mesh compartments are not actually designed to carry water bottles, although once this pack is packed to capacity, they fit perfectly and remain stable. The pouches are actually designed to carry small items such as your cellphone, although they can be adapted to many uses.
There is enough room for most people to store a three-liter water bladder, a change of clothing, snacks, sunscreen, their phone, wallet, and keys, and one or two extras. If you manually add some Velcro to the side pockets, then they are perfect for a camera, with the aid of the compression straps already present.
Extreme comfort guaranteed
A lightweight design and an adjustable chest strap ensure that the Osprey Packs Daylite Daypack is among the most comfortable packs available. There is little to no pressure placed on the neck and spine, with the padded straps and back section working wonderfully. The padded rear section moisture wicks and vents extremely well, resulting in a comfortable pack to carry regardless of the length or duration of your hike, or the time spend out in the sun. This is a pack which arrives far smaller than you would expect, packing capacity which far extends larger day packs of a much higher price.
Not only is this pack comfortable, but everything packs in securely and it hugs the form of your body well. You will seldom know that you are carrying a pack, while the pack itself will hold secure whatever is packed in regardless of how rugged the environment, or how fast you are scurrying over rocks and other treacherous terrain. It is comfortable regardless of your height, with the straps being fully adjustable.
Placement of the straps is perfect for guarantying that all your gear is tied down, while the hip belt is a bonus adding additional comfort and security which most competing packs simply do not have.
